Within the scope of the Turkish Summer School project organized in cooperation with Yunus Emre Institute and Malatya Turgut Özal University TÖMER, we had the pleasure of hosting international students in Malatya.
A total of 19 students from 16 different countries attended the program and received 60 hours of Turkish language education over the course of three weeks. In addition to their language lessons, the students participated in a variety of cultural, artistic, and sports activities such as Ebru (marbling), archery, ceramics, calligraphy (hüsn-i hat), leather crafting, seed planting, horseback riding, and traditional Turkish cooking.
Our students also had the opportunity to explore the cultural heritage of both Malatya’s central districts and surrounding areas such as Darende and Arapgir. Furthermore, they took part in excursions to Harput and Keban in Elazığ, and enjoyed watching the sunset at Mount Nemrut.
Thanks to the support of our university, the program was carried out with rich and meaningful content from start to finish. The program was coordinated by Prof. Dr. İlhan Erdem, Vice Rector of our university and Director of MTÜ TÖMER, and assisted by Lecturer İrem Tay from TÖMER. Additionally, Lecturer İbrahim Akın, Head of the International Student Office and a member of the TÖMER academic staff, closely accompanied the project and actively participated in the cultural activities.
